1. Scope and our role
This policy applies to personal information handled through LoanForAll.org and related communications. It is intended to describe our practices under applicable Canadian private-sector privacy requirements, which may include the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and substantially similar provincial legislation.
Participating lenders and other third parties may have their own privacy policies and are responsible for their own collection, use and disclosure of information after they receive it.
2. Personal information we may collect
| Category | Examples | Why it may be collected |
|---|---|---|
| Identity and contact information | Full name, email address, telephone number, province or territory and preferred contact time. | To process your request, communicate with you and help connect you with possible lending options. |
| Loan request information | Requested loan amount and intended loan purpose. | To understand the type of financing you are seeking and identify potentially relevant partners. |
| Bank eligibility information | Bank name, bank-account age and, where required, an alternative bank name and account number. | To determine whether an account may be capable of receiving loan funds and to support lender matching or verification. |
| Consent and communication records | Your confirmation that you are actively seeking a loan and available to receive a call, plus records of requests or communications. | To document your request and communication preferences. |
| Technical and usage information | IP address, browser or device information, referring page, page URL, campaign parameters and website activity. | To operate, secure, analyze and improve the site, detect abuse and measure advertising or campaign performance. |
Never submit your online-banking password, PIN, card security code or one-time verification code through LoanForAll. We do not need these credentials to match a loan request.
3. How we may use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- receive, validate and process your loan-matching request;
- identify lenders, brokers, referral partners or service providers that may be relevant to your request;
- contact you, or enable a participating partner to contact you, about the request you submitted;
- prevent fraud, spam, abuse, security incidents and unauthorized activity;
- operate, troubleshoot, audit and improve our website and services;
- measure marketing and campaign performance;
- comply with applicable legal, regulatory, accounting and recordkeeping obligations; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
5. Consent and telephone or email communications
By submitting the application form, you request that LoanForAll and relevant participating partners use the information you provide to assess and respond to your request. This may include contact by telephone or email using the details you submitted.
You may ask not to receive further marketing communications from us. A request to stop marketing does not necessarily prevent service-related communications about an application you initiated, and it does not automatically apply to an independent lender or partner that has its own legal basis and privacy practices. You may need to contact that organization directly.
Where applicable, calls and electronic messages should be made in accordance with Canadian consent, telemarketing and do-not-call requirements.
7. Safeguards
We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, loss, alteration or disclosure. Safeguards may include access controls, HTTPS transmission, password protection, restricted administrative access, monitoring and secure service-provider arrangements.
No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use caution when transmitting sensitive information and contact us if you believe your information may have been compromised.
8. Retention and disposal
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to maintain business and transaction records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and meet legal or regulatory requirements. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.
When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymize or securely dispose of it, subject to backup, legal-hold and technical limitations.
9. Processing outside your province or Canada
Some service providers or partners may process or store information in another province, the United States or another jurisdiction. Information processed elsewhere may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement or regulatory authorities in accordance with local law.
We seek to use contractual and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the processing.
10. Access, correction, withdrawal and complaints
Subject to applicable law and permitted exceptions, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask that inaccurate information be corrected, withdraw consent for future uses that rely on consent, or raise a concern about our privacy practices.
Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to continue processing or matching your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may retain certain information where permitted or required by law.
You may also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the appropriate provincial privacy regulator.
11. Children and age eligibility
LoanForAll is not intended for children. The loan-request service is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old or the age of majority applicable in their province or territory. We do not knowingly seek loan applications from minors.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, partners, technology or legal obligations. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request new consent for material changes.
13. Contact us
Contact our privacy representative with questions, access or correction requests, consent withdrawals or complaints.
